Genuinely magnificent was the wedding of Samuel and Heather. It took place at Art Revolution, a beautiful art gallery. But let’s take a step back and introduce the Bride and the Groom. They have met shortly after Heather moved to Chicago for a job she’d gotten there. Their feelings have definitely sparked quickly as their first date didn’t just end at the jazz bar where they planned to spend the evening — they sat on Sam’s truck’s tailgate until early morning, talking and getting to know each other more.
The wedding day was kicked off at a hotel downtown. Heather with her bridesmaids had been getting ready for some time when we arrived. They were all dressed up in remarkably beautiful dresses and hung out together talking and looking at old pictures of Sam and Heather. In the meanwhile, Sam and his groomsmen were on their way to Chicago. Horrible Chicago traffic has delayed them a bit but that was not an issue. They were all excited and quickly got ready for the day.

Once ready, everyone left for the wedding location. The venue was amazing. The Art Revolution provides an industrial looking space surrounded by beautiful brick walls which are decorated with various paintings. Heather and Sam’s friends and family helped with preparing the decorations and they did an outstanding job! The alter was surrounded by candles, a decorative iron gate, and colorful flowers. Behind the alter was a pot with a tree planted in it. It was used during the unity ceremony, right after exchanging rings. The bride’s and groom’s parents placed soil (which was from each family’s hometowns) at the base of the tree, an act which represented strong family roots. Afterwards, Sam and Heather watered the tree. It was a ceremony that symbolized unity and was to remind everyone that marriage requires watering with love every day.

All the details were beautifully planned. The most important details, however, were the rings, of course. And there is a very romantic story tied to these. Samuel searched high and low for an engagement ring which would not only be elegant but also have a spark to it. In this case, that spark was the story of this ring itself: Sam purchased it from an older couple that was married for over 50 years. That makes that ring not only a piece of art but also a piece of history.

Being wedding photographers, we experience the most important moments in the lives of so many people. We get to learn about our Bride’s and Groom’s past and hear the beautiful story of their love. Moreover, we witness the happiness radiating from those who are the closest to our Bride and Groom. Heather’s and Sam’s family are friendly and lovely people. They truly were happy to see these two join their life paths into one.
Heather and Sam, we’d like to wish you the best on your new path. Thank you for allowing us to be apart of your beautiful day.
