Today, we’re introducing Toopes Events. A fantastic couple, Jaclyn and Ryan, who also work in wedding industry. They are wedding planners who are great at making sure that your day goes smoothly and stress-free.
Tell me a little about you and your business.
We are a husband and wife team, we love a good party, and we don’t think there is a better party than a wedding! We relish in helping couples experience a fun-filled planning process void of unnecessary stress and headaches, and we absolutely cherish each unique wedding celebration we are fortunate enough to participate in. Toopes Events launched in early 2015 and is a full-service wedding planning firm. We offer a range of wedding packages, from day-of coordination to the whole shebang, to fit our couples’ needs
What is your favorite part of your job?
We LOVE taking stress away from our clients during the wedding planning process by keeping them organized and on a planning timeline so nothing falls through the cracks. It’s extremely rewarding to hear couples talk about how at ease they feel during their planning experience because of how much we’ve helped guide them in the decision-making process.
What makes you different from others in your field?
Being a husband and wife team is pretty unique for a planning duo and provides for a male and female perspective on planning. It allows us to more fully relate to both our brides and grooms. Also unique to us is that Ryan has a strong financial background as a financial analyst. His financial expertise is key in assisting couples with determining how best to stay within their budget. Jaclyn brings creativity and a knack for bargaining with vendors to ensure our clients are receiving the best service (and best deal) possible.
Are there any wedding trends that you love or don’t love?
We love the recent trend towards rustic wedding decor. Using mason jars, mismatched vases and neutrals coupled with pops of color are beautiful accents that create a unique ambiance for your wedding. We also love unique ceremony trends like putting a message in a bottle or locking away a bottle of wine with love letters to open at a later anniversary.
We’re not necessarily fans of the “trash your dress” trend. After all, wedding dresses are pricey and we like the thought that they can pass through generations in a family, perhaps to be worn again someday! Although, we sincerely hope the ’80’s poof sleeves and high necks stay in the past!
What tips can you give to upcoming brides?
Our first tip is to relax! Wedding planning is supposed to be fun, and a time when you and you fiance grow closer together to create a celebration that is uniquely you. Oftentimes, it can turn into a stressful job as opposed to an enjoyable experience. Just keep in mind that no matter what hiccups to your perfect planning experience happen along the way, your wedding day will arrive, and you will get married! That’s the most important thing.
Second, and probably most important, budget early on. As soon as you can, get a budget written out. It can, and probably will change, but it’s important to keep in mind your budget for each area of your wedding as you start to book vendors and incur expenses.
A final word of advice: don’t wait until the last minute for anything. Vendors book up quickly, some a year or more in advance! And, make sure you order your bridal gown at least 8 months in advance of your wedding date to leave time for customization and alterations. Don’t let procrastination get the best of you!
